In this episode of Home Trends with Ken, I provide my Top 3 Interior Home Staging Tips for when you’re ready to sell. Watch the video by clicking on the link below. A synopsis of the tips is also included below.
When preparing a home to sell, I provide each of my clients with a custom home staging plan tailored to their specific property. For example, staging for a more traditional home will involve one style of furniture. While staging a modern home or an urban condo will require a more contemporary look. Regardless of the type of property and price-point of the home, however, the following 3 Tips are a great starting point when preparing your home for sale.
Tip 1: Declutter & Depersonalize
Start by removing personal items, unnecessary objects, and excess furniture. You also should safeguard medications, computers, sensitive documents, and fine jewelry. If you’ve been in your home for a long time, you may have accumulated a lot of possessions. If you find yourself struggling to figure out what to keep, sale, toss, or give-away, or just need help doing those tasks, I recommend working with a professional home organizer. I know some great home organizers in the area, so just let me know if you need a recommendation.
Tip 2: Deep Clean the House
Before going on the market, it’s time to give the house a deep clean and the windows a good washing! The result will be a sparkling and welcoming home.
Tip 3: Address Maintenance Issues
Prior to putting your home on the market, it’s time to address any maintenance issues, such as leaky faucets. It also may be time to paint. And carpets may need to be cleaned, removed, or replaced.
If you implement these tips, you’ll be on your way to presenting a home that is appealing to buyers, potentially netting you a higher sales price and quicker sale.
